Devlog: Bug Patch 1 and Manage Politicians Update

Hi everyone, happy Monday afternoon!
I spent today and yesterday working on UI upgrades, fixing a bunch of long-term bugs, and cleaning up the theme system. Here’s what I got done. Not many screenshots for today's devlog. Mostly just bug fixes. I have to work straight on the trailer, which will come out later tonight, and continue to play test and make more UI changes, plus any remaining bugs in the save and load system, if they exist.
Major Feature: Manage Politicians Overhaul
The manage politicians screen has been completely reworked. You can now:
-
Add and delete tags for your politicians.
-
Filter by tags to quickly narrow down lists.
-
Search across your roster.
-
Sort politicians with different options.
This makes managing large numbers of custom politicians much easier and more organized.
UI Changes
-
Upgraded the UI for the Wisconsin map.
-
Finalized the UI for primary elections so non-leading candidates are no longer all white.
-
Improved the display of party names in state-level election night views.
-
Made modals much wider by changing a base class.
-
Themes are now saved to the file system in the themes folder instead of local storage.
-
Restored all election candidates to their full election objects since performance is no longer an issue.
-
Added contact info to the main menu and settings screen.
-
Polls now display properly for primaries.
-
Improved modal styling.
Fixes
-
Fixed governor elections not showing county-level coalitions (this was due to a tab UI change, not data issues).
-
Reset presidential election reporting properly.
-
Presidential primaries now work correctly on election night.
-
Fixed the Michigan map from crashing.
-
Re-election modal now appears for all offices, not just the city council.
-
Fixed performance problems and major issues in the theme creator (random theme generation, editing values, etc.).
-
Stopped saving a new theme from restarting the app, and made sure custom themes update correctly.
-
Fixed default themes not appearing despite existing files.
-
Fixed editing and deleting themes, which were still using the old system.
-
Fixed temporary theme changes being applied globally.
-
Fixed a long-term bug where creating a new politician during a campaign made you redo the setup.
-
Map themes now display correctly under the new theme system.
-
Fixed the office seat history not updating.
-
Fixed AI politicians not upgrading to full data once elected.
-
Fixed missing names in office cards for newly elected officials.
-
Fixed a warning caused by an undefined parameter in a policy effect.
-
Fixed senate vote blocking and auto-processing before live sessions.
Removals
-
Removed all state themes except the active one to streamline the new file theme manager.
Demo Preparations
The demo is just about ready, I have a few more things to do before it is ready though, and I will need to get the trailer out later today.
