Demo Release
The first demo of StateOS is now live!
This build is available for Windows only currently
Known Issues & Notes
Transparency is key, so here are some things to expect in the demo:
-
AI Behavior: Legislators sometimes raise funding and taxes too often, though occasionally they do lower taxes while raising funding. I’ll be recalibrating this behavior within the next two weeks.
Presidential Elections:
-
As a temporary fix, presidential elections are treated as generic elections.
-
Population calculations for presidential elections are off at very large sizes.
Primaries simulating through election night worked on my computer for the president, but they did not work on another computer. Due to this inconsistency, I will need to make sure I update this very soon. For now, I recommend you skip the presidential primary live election night.
- Regular elections for the president in campaigns may also not work but it did work on my computer as a generic election. However, you can always see a proper presidential election in the election simulator.
-
-
Election Dates: Not all U.S. elections occur on the same day yet. This will be fixed soon.
-
Polls: Polling data does not currently save, though new polls will always generate.
-
Political Parties, News Orgs, & Orgs: Most action buttons don’t do anything yet, but the infrastructure is in place.
-
Wiki Info: Currently does not fetch correctly, but this is an easy fix coming soon.
-
Player Agency: At this stage, you can only influence your own elections directly; other elections and vote outcomes are mostly out of your hands for now.
-
Staff & Campaigns: Staff don’t provide much help yet, but recruitment and functionality will be expanded in the next updates.
-
UI & Visuals: Placeholder icons are scattered across the UI; these will be replaced with proper assets in future builds.
-
State & National Politics: Still very early in development, city-level politics is where the real gameplay is at for now.
Last Minute Addition
-
Added a button to regenerate country data for variety.
Roadmap
-
October 1–7: Bug patches for the demo + some progress for the next update, UI changes, and upgrades.
-
October 1: Early Access release on Itch.
Clarifications:
To make it clear, currently, you cannot use custom parties yet, nor can you edit the start of campaigns yet. However, the first update before the end of October will have these features. Check out this devlog for more information: The First Game Update
The next patch for the Demo and EA will be October 5th.
While contact info is in the main menu, you can reach out to reallybadgamesdev@gmail.com for any feedback and bug reports. If it is a crash on startup, please provide me with your computer specifications, your CPU, operating system, GPU, and dedicated RAM.
The demo is now up on the main Itch page!
