Devlog: Bug Patch 2, Demo Release Date.
Hi everyone, happy Tuesday afternoon.
I spent today finishing up some important fixes and improvements ahead of the demo.
New
-
You can now overwrite existing saves.
-
Overhauled backend code for available countries and regions for better data flow, saving unnecessary memory and storage.
Contact info regarding bugs and feedback has been put on the main menu.
Fixes
-
Fixed legislation structure not being saved or loaded 100% properly, which caused issues with legislation-related systems.
-
Fixed massive entity data being passed to elections unnecessarily, which was bloating save file sizes.
-
Fixed not being able to filter by region when loading a campaign or filtering elections in the elections tab.
-
Fixed bugs caused by changes in data flow now that campaigns don’t use all available country data.
-
Fixed missing budget, service, and laws data for the national level.
-
Fixed overwrite errors when creating a new file.
-
Fixed crashes and errors in the demo test build.
Removals
-
Removed duplicate politician data when saving, which reduces file size.
That’s everything for today, September 30th. The free demo will be out tonight between 8–9 PM CDT.
Demo Expectations:
There might be bugs even after my playtesting and bug squashing. I would like to have had more time but the game should be semi-playable at least. Some features are considered incomplete.
One known issue that isn't quite a bug is the AI legislators like to raise funding and taxes often despite them not needing to do so. I will fix this and recalibrate the AI within the next two weeks ideally. Currently the demo will come out for Windows only.
Population calculation for presidential elections is also kinda off at large sizes in the election simulator, and in the actual game, currently, the presidential election in the campaign softlocks the game. I will need to make a quick fix for this.
As a fix, the presidential election is considered a generic election for now.
Currently, not all U.S elections happen on the same day. This will be fixed soon.
Polls do not save currently, but that is not a game-breaking feature, and new polls are generated. This will be fixed soon.
Most action buttons for political parties, news orgs, and orgs don't do anything yet. But the infrastructure is there.
Wiki info currently doesn't fetch correctly but it is a quick fix I can do.
